After the formal design education (5 years) and 4 years of internship Jake earned his license to practice architecture as a Registered Architect.

Jake has been using Autodesk Revit Architecture and Revit MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) for nine years to help facilitate and document designs.  He is a respected authority on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Architectural engineering using the BIM software. Jake is an Adjunct faculty professor at Pima Community College and has guest taught the software at Autodesk University, a yearly industry training event. Jake is also an Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit 2011.

Jake Boen, RA is the son of a second-generation builder. In three generations we have constructed a wide variety of built environment that spans from roadway infrastructure to high rises and dwellings. One could say that we as a collective group have built it all, but in all honesty and perhaps being too modest it seems that we may have just scratched the surface.

Jake’s grandfather on his mothers’ side of the family was a man of travel and the National Park Service. Treks in a still forest or siting with rod in hand and a bobbing fishing line Jake learned nature first hand. His father also has a green thumb. He taught his sons how to plant a garden in the arid desert and how a hand full of seeds can grow into wild gardens of native plants which could be used as food or other resources. Between Jake’s father and grandfather Jake learned to observe the environment and how man and animals live on the land.

At a early age Jake had a hammer in hand but it wasn’t until the age 6 that he formally used it to build. Years of being a weekend warrior as the Boen family renovated their home from a modest ranch home transformed it into a highly respected dwelling built on years of craftsmanship (and yes, it literally took years). That on the job experience of building the Boen family’s home guided Jake’s curiosities to adulthood and lead him to college where he earned a bachelor of science in architecture at the University of Arizona.
